The 2nd Annual Easter Musical Celebration is returning to First Baptist Church of DeRidder, Louisiana on April 4, 2015. Concert begins at 5:00 PM, doors open at 4:00 PM. This year’s concert features a jam packed night of talented and award winning groups. The Perrys are one of America’s favorite gospel groups. In the 40 years The Perry’s have been on the road, sharing with audiences night after night, God has been faithful to provide them with everything they need to build their ministry into what it is today. From the moving lyrics of traditionally based songs, talented vocalists and musicians, to a genuine heart for the people touched so deeply by their music, throughout the years the Perrys have proven that they have what it takes to rise to the top of Southern Gospel music.
Also appearing will be the Mark Trammell Quartet. For forty years Mark Trammell has been blessed to sing Gospel Music. Something he says, “evolved from a dream to a life’s call; from just singing to ministry.” Many long time observers and followers of Gospel Music consider him to be one the greatest baritone singers of all time. He has won multiple awards as a singer and producer, and has been a member of four of Gospel Music’s most acclaimed groups – The Kingsmen, The Cathedrals, Greater Vision and Gold City. For most people, just being with one of these legendary groups would be the pinnacle of a career and justification for resting on your laurels. But for Mark now is not the time to kick back and relax. Instead, it is time to step into a fresh mission that focuses on evangelism through the seamless integration of Gospel Music and preaching.
Rounding out this outstanding night of gospel music is the award winning trio, Greater Vision. Since organizing in 1990, Greater Vision has been inspiring audiences with their rich vocal blend and their effective ability to communicate the message of the gospel. Over the years, Greater Vision has established a firm place at the pinnacle of Christian music, and has become the most awarded trio in the history of Gospel music. The vocals and rich harmony Greater Vision has become recognized for are a direct result of the blending of three unique and versatile vocalists. Gerald Wolfe, the group’s founder and emcee, sings the lead. Prolific songwriter, Rodney Griffin, handles the baritone part for the trio, while Chris Allman, also a prolific writer, sings the tenor. Almost 200 times every year, the three gentlemen collectively known as Greater Vision, unite to present the gospel in a way that has endeared them to audiences across the United States and around the world. Their deepest desire is to encourage the Christian listener to share their faith with others and to cause the listener who isn’t a believer to see their need for a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. With each new opportunity, Gerald, Rodney, and Chris continue to move forward as they share their “Greater Vision”.
This is certainly a night of gospel music you don’t want to miss and without a doubt will be the largest night of gospel music in Southwest Louisiana or Southeast Texas during the Easter season. While many have suggested Easter weekend is not a good time to host a concert, we feel there is not a better time to gather together and celebrate the death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. A musical celebration brought to you by some of America’s most popular gospel groups.
